My first day… walking with Angelica and hitch-hiking… on motorbikes! Kiko! Famous for eating all my food, then hitch into town. Astrid walked with me for 3 days, and taught me lots of camp cooking recipes. Walking to the Chile-Argentina mountain border with Ruth and her Dad was one of my favourite sections. Hitching a ride back from Puerto Natales, Chile towards the mountains. Some really worried police. I had to convince them that my tent was perfectly suitable for snow. It was a challenge given I was in shorts. Out of food. Out of water. Out of enthusiasm. Then these jokesters picked me up and took me back to El Chalten Argentina for some serious R&R In El Chalten, Flor hosted me while my feet and body recovered from some traumatic weeks. My Mum wrote to her to say thanks! To walk the length of the world… or to convince someone else to keep going and quit? That’s what Albert did. Hopefully he comes to join me again in Central America! This truck driver changed his entire route to drop me back to my recommencement point! Poki walked with me for an hour after a big snow fall… it was a teary goodbye. Raul featured on facebook a few times. I stayed with him a few weeks while I healed my foot from a dodgy shoe issue. These guys hosted me via couch surfing… after their son who volunteered them! Raul visit 2! Tina & Christian hosted me through winter while I waited for new equipment to arrive. I went to buy food and recharge my equipment… and was given lunch! I arrived for a coffee… and they gave me their computer, office, coffees, food… all to encourage me and keep me on the road! It’s so hard to say goodbye all the time to people who become so close so quickly. Truck driver check in! Luci offered me to spend Christmas with them… but I couldn’t because of my bank card woes… In the end the bank took so long I wish I’d stayed. Couch Surfing is the bomb! You’re tired… you need a break… let’s go climbing! Mate’s and fresh fish. I was really surprised to find these guys when I thought there would be no one on this beach! Cyclists have been great. I haven’t seen many lately but they usually stop for a chat and walk with me for a little while. “We heard about you so we came looking!” Couch Surfing MADNESS… We did a blog on Spanish phrases. Again… I stayed longer than planned. Paparazzi!… They came to walk with me for half a day! Michael lives 20km from town… we walked together until he spotted somewhere to take a swim and we met up again later in the day. Checkout his backpack… wool bags and seat belts! When you get distracted and walk the wrong way… these guys gave me a lift back to where I went wrong! I arrived to a town without a supermarket and was out of food! This guy gave me some cereal and a bag of fruit! AMAZING Police checking in on me again!
